i'm actually texting you to give you the heads up that i'm gonna be gone for a while. jsyk not to worry about me when i disappear. i'm gonna be ok, it's nothing to worry about...but you're not gonna be able to reach me.

What do you mean? Where are you going? What's going on?

[Saying it's nothing to worry about just makes him worry more, honestly. It would be one thing if he disappeared, worrying but something that happened. Suzaku had vanished for a month just last month after all. But he had never known in advance. That means this is different.]

[ Tech's uncertain how much to say, how much to explain. Too much will probably make Suzaku worry. Not enough? He'll probably still worry. So there's gotta be some line he can toe in between. ]

remember the brides mammon was marrying when things went to shit? well i found a way to save them. it just means i gotta go to mammon's island for a bit. it shouldn't be terribly long. maybe a month? maybe a little longer?

[It's not a yell. Instead Suzaku's voice is quiet, level even though there's tension there, not quite anger, but close.]

Is there anything I can say to change your mind?

[ Tech lets out a sigh, long and defeated. ]

The contract's already been signed. Even if I did change my mind, there's no getting out of it. Unless someone can offer Mammon something better?

Now you sound like Fitz. There wasn't time to consult anyone else, Suzaku. We had a narrow window to do this in as it was. Once we found out he planned on taking the brides back with him, we had to move quick.
