Name: Suzaku Kururugi
Canon: Code Geass
Age: 18
Appearance: picture of Suzaku. He is a Japanese teenager with brown hair and green eyes, he is tall because clamp anime likes noodle boys.
Canon Point: Turn 25, after his defeat at Kallen's hands.
Background: Here we go.
CRAU: N/A
Personality: Simply put, Suzaku is a hero with a martyr complex, who was born into the wrong genre of anime by accident. His high moral viewpoint and incredible physical skills would make him an ace pilot and hero of the people if he were in a different, kinder world. But in his own one he is a kin killer, a traitor and a murderer.
When he was ten years old he killed his father in order to stop a war. This led to peace, but the price was the unconditional surrender and subjugation of Japan. Japan was stripped of its name, its people were stripped of their rights. Because of this act Suzaku knows that end never justifies the means. Evil done for good reasons is still evil. When we first meet Suzaku he is a Britannian soldier. He joined the military to try and change things from the inside, rather than fighting against Britannia on the side of terrorists. This is a belief he sticks to, he becomes a knight, sells out Zero to become a Knight of the Round. He does terrible things, all in the name of his goal, to change Britannia.
This changes when he fires F.L.E.I.J.A- a tactical warhead, a weapon of mass destruction. His world view changes completely, he decides that if this is what he is, a monster, a murderer, someone who kills his own people then he will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. All that matters is taking down Britannia, after C's world all that matters is Zero Requiem- Lelouch's plan to make the world anew. He becomes ruthless and completely goal orientated.
He believes in saving people, he wants to live in a world were people are not murdered, where there is no discrimination. The first time we see him he refuses to shoot Lelouch and is shot himself, we see him break battle formation to save civilians, we see him questioning orders to be berated and abused for it. He lets one million people, including terrorists, escape in order to avoid a massacre. This is something that slips and slips with every act of violence. His use of F.L.E.I.J.A kills 33 million people, mainly civilians and after that point his hands are so stained with blood that it doesn't matter what he does.
He believes in rules. He goes back to his court martial after being rescued, even though he has been arrested and tortured by those he served on absolutely no evidence. He accepts his order to die in order to capture Zero calmly, even going as far to say that death is 'better than breaking the rules.' Even now, when his whole moral world view has been stood on its head he still prefers rules, still finds it easier to follow orders rather than going about things alone. He is a solder and a knight through and through.
Being a knight and a soldier colours how he acts around others. He is formal and polite, falling further into Britannian formalities when faced with situations he feels out of his depth in. Though he hates having to kill and hurt people he enjoys being a Knightmare Frame pilot, piloting is something he is good at, one of the few things he can take pride in. He does terrible things as the pilot of Lancelot, but he also does good. As crazy as Lloyd putting an injured eleven foot soldier into an experimental knightmare frame was, Suzaku does not show any sign that he ever regrets agreeing to it. Despite everything that happens.
Suzaku is someone who has had to fight for every scrap of respect he's ever received. To the Japanese he is a traitor, he betrayed his country, he sold out, he fights for Britannia, he kills his own people. He is hated and scorned. To the Britannian's he is at best a useful tool and at worse a number who has rose far above his station. He is used to casual insults, he has been tortured by the army he serves, he doesn't expect people to like him. For the most part it washes off him, he doesn't care about what happens to him. After all no one can hate him more than he hates himself.
That is not to say that Suzaku does not have friends. He cares deeply about his friends at school, he adores Nunnally, he loved Euphemia deeply. Euphemia's death had a profound affect on him, as did Shirley's. He truly regrets that he and Kallen ended up enemies, he regrets that he and Gino ended up on different sides. He never truly gives up on Lelouch, even when he hates him for everything he had done.
That said; Suzaku can be a jerk. After Euphemia's death he becomes a harsher person. He barely smiles, he throws himself into his duty. He uses people, not caring about their feelings. He casts people aside as soon as they are no longer useful. He betrays people, kills innocents. He is driven by anger as much as he is by his desire to make the world a better place.
That anger hides great pain. Deep down Suzaku wants to die. He isn't someone who would take his own life but he desires to die in battle, saving people, to atone for his sins. This led Lelouch to cast a Geass of 'live' on him- forcing him to do whatever it takes to survive. At his canon point he is rushing towards Zero Requiem, Lelouch's plan to create the world anew. He knows what lies for him at the end, not atonement and death as he wishes but a life of eternal loneliness, hidden behind a mask for the sake of the world. It's a punishment that he accepts.
Weaknesses/Temptations: At the canon point that Suzaku is at he is very much on a 'whatever it takes' path. Though redemption will seem at least at first the quickest way to his goal (to going back home) it would not be impossible for him to be convinced otherwise, to go against hell if that promises a different solution.
He is quite easy to manipulate, so a lot of temptations will probably come from other characters convincing him something is a good idea. Though he claims he makes decisions for himself- he really doesn't. He is a soldier and he is best when taking orders. Sometimes those orders are terrible and he will do them anyways.
Also his geass of 'live' is a tool that can be used to push him into actions that he would not normally take. If his life is in danger he will do anything in his power to keep living including disobeying orders, running away from battle and firing a deadly weapon on his own people. This could definitely be manipulated.

Powers/Abilities:
Fighting Ability Suzaku is a trained fighter. He is a soldier and is trained in firearms and hand to hand combat. He trained in Kendo until he was ten and has maintained his skills.
Physical Reactions Suzaku has ridiculous levels of hand eye coordination and reaction time. A lot of this can be put down to the Live Geass that has been cast on him. However he is able to destroy a camera mounted machine gun with a lag time of 0.05 seconds without being struck once before the Geass is cast on him. He is able to time a jump to cut the wire of a pendulum bomb perfectly. He is very strong and fit.
Knightmare frame piloting He is a skilled pilot. This is helped by his ability to take in a lot of information at once and to act on it. Even when Lelouch has managed to find a pattern to his movement
Intelligence Suzaku is not conventionally intelligent. He does not have a high level of education (there is a gap between when Japan was invaded when he was ten and when he attended Ashford at 17). He is shown to need extra help by Cecile though he is treasurer of the student council which suggests that he is good at maths. He doesn't consider himself particularly smart and indeed seems like one of the less intelligent characters because of how master mind manipulative every one around him is. He does however have good instincts, part of his success at Knightmare piloting comes from being able to understand a lot of information, he is able to work out who Zero is (though he denies it even to himself for a while) and later on in canon he is able to work out what Lelouch will do based on what he knows of him.
Live Geass He is under a Geass of "Live," this activates whenever he is in danger, or about to give up and die making his body do everything in its power to continue living. This doesn't make him impossible to kill- but it does make it very difficult to kill him and mostly causes trouble. He has no memories of what happens whilst under its affects. He has learned to fight with it- purposefully flinging himself into situations that will trigger it to make him fight faster and more desperately.

Old game ~ This is from an earlier canon point and also Suzaku has no memories. But the actual thread itself I feel is a good example of character.
While there's no strict word requirement, we do ask that you show samples that you feel clearly show your grasp on the character and their motivations/how they interact with others.
